Boonie Bears: Blast into the Past to Hit Chinese Cinemas and Berlinale

Fantawild has officially announced that its new movie Boonie Bears: Blast into the Past will hit cinemas all over China on February 5^th, 2019, the first day of the Lunar New Year. Fantawild revealed that it plans to submit the film to the Berlin International Film Festival.

In the poster released, the three protagonists Briar, Bramble, and Vick seem to be pursued by a giant monster and an ancient tribe in primitive times, which no doubt will create a thrilling adventure. A new character is even being introduced – a small pig in celebration of 2019, the year of the pig.

So far, Fantawild has released five “Boonie Bears” films and the property has become one of the most loved animation brands in China. The two most recent ones—Boonie Bears: Fantastica and Boonie Bears: The Big Shrink premiered during Chinese Spring Festival for two consecutive years and yielded a revenue of more than 1.1 billion CNY (approx. 174 million USD).

To further promote the “Boonie Bears” brand worldwide, Fantawild plans to submit the film Blast into the Past to the Berlin International Film Festival.

In recent years, Fantawild has made considerable progress in its global distribution, while thriving in the international market and promoting Chinese culture to the world. Currently “Boonie Bears” animated programs have been distributed to 82 countries and regions including the U.S., Italy, and Mexico. Some are aired on renowned global platforms like Disney, Sony, and Netflix. The “Boonie Bears” films have been released in theatres in over 30 countries, including Russia, South Korea, Mexico, and Turkey. It has consistently had strong box office performances. Soon, some of the “Boonie Bears” films will be screened in Canadian theatres.
