Fantawild’s Qu Yuan Won TEA’s Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement

On November 19th, the International Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) announced the winners of the 27th Thea Awards. Qu Yuan, a large-scale theater attraction in Jingzhou Fantawild Oriental Heritage Park featuring live performance and special effects, was awarded the ‘Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement’ in 2020.

The International Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), was founded in 1991. It’s a non-profit association and is globally the most authoritative organization in the themed entertainment industry. The annual Thea Awards ceremony, known as the "Oscars" of the global theme park industry, has become a grand event for all involved in this field.  

Since the opening of Jingzhou Fantawild Oriental Heritage in September 2019, Qu Yuan, one of the flagship attractions of the park, continues to be popular, receiving high public praise and attracting a large number of foreign and domestic tourists to the park. The live performance takes the great poems ‘Li Sao’, ‘Jiu Ge’ and ‘Tian Wen’, written by poet Qu Yuan, as its inspiration and uses the poet’s life as the plot. It combines cutting-edge technology, stunning stage effects, and fascinating live performance to build the surreal world described in the poem ‘Li Sao’. The artwork is in the style of ink wash paintings which are brought to life using animated effects. This performance wonderfully interprets the great Qu Yuan’s life, and shows the charm of Chu culture as a whole. The attraction has become a masterpiece of cultural tourism in China.
