Our story doggedly follows one of the most enduring struggles in the annals of barnyard-animal history: chicken versus weasel. Chicken Stew gives viewers a peek at the trials of three upstanding, independent-minded chickens sharing a spacious two-story home down at the Funny Farm. These chickens may pursue largely different interests during quiet times; but when under attack from a pair of dim-yet-determined weasels, they all bring laser-focus to the business of dispatching their tormentors. Not surprisingly, due to their ingenuity and “pluck”, poultry triumphs over evil every time.
Small Fry, Free Range and Uncle Wattles are an easy-going chicken trio living on the Funny Farm. Not far from the farm, a giant junkyard is home to a sneaky pair of weasels known as Glutton and Slim. These old boys, when not at war with each other, attempt one hare-brained scheme after another in pursuit of the elusive hot chicken dinner, to no avail.
At the Funny Farm, there’s fresh air, a fine view of countryside, and a great big house our three yardbird-heroes—Free Range, Uncle Wattles and Small Fry—are bound to keep weasel-free. But the single-, and simple-, minded Glutton and Slim simply can’t curb the desire to fry up their fluffy yellow neighbors down the way. Will these pernicious polecats ever learn? Neither Slim’s quick temper nor Glutton’s lumbering determination will ever get our fearless Chicken Trio into the crockpot!
Chicken Stew’s target audience is children between the ages of 5 and 10. In this tale, chickens living the good life on the Funny Farm find their days regularly disrupted by Glutton and Slim, junkyard-dwelling weasels with a yen for fricassee.
 
The wily duo has been mandated to continue the family tradition of making a meal of every chicken they see; it is worth noting, however, that no family member has managed to grab a chicken for four generations. In light of this humiliating record, Glutton and Slim will stop at nothing to realize their lofty chicken-filled dreams, and they’ll be on the lookout for every possible chance to dine well while restoring the family honor.
