SEASON 1
“Ashley’s Childhood”
Mount Concha is the home of a thriving, well-ordered monkey kingdom ruled by the wise and benevolent Montague. But Montague is beginning to feel his age, and a powerful tribesman named Gerry is plotting to overthrow him.
Gerry ultimately betrays Montague and banishes the king’s young son, Ashley, from the mountain. Ashley is exiled to the forest, but two new friends help him to survive: Daniel—the flying rat with an unfortunate fear of flying—and Bryon, the kind-hearted giant panda. Together they begin a journey to the legendary Pavonine Lake, in the hope of starting a new life.
The trio faces many hardships, and their exploits imbue a headstrong, impetuous Ashley with greater maturity and insight over time. They finally reach the Lake and make it their new home.
There Ashley meets a spirited golden monkey named Becky, and their bond gradually deepens until the fateful day she is kidnapped. Young Ashley determines to rescue her—whatever the cost.
SEASON 2
“The Return of Ashley”
Ashley tracks down Becky’s kidnappers and frees her after a fierce battle. He soon discovers her to be the daughter of Lango, the Golden Monkey King.
Having lost his heart to the lovely Becky, Ashley decides to settle in the Para Valley, the site of her father’s kingdom.
At first, Lango is not impressed with Ashley, as the young adventurer is very much an outsider. But Ashley’s bravery gradually wins him the trust of all in the Valley. His solid reputation even prompts Lango, in the end, to pass his own authority to Ashley, whose leadership further enhances life in this prosperous territory.
Meanwhile, Gerry’s brutal grip on Mount Concha is undergirded by a reckless deforestation campaign; fear and suffering become the order of the day on the mountain. Ashley learns of this, and vows to vanquish Gerry and rule the twin realms of Mount Concha and Para Valley in peace.
On hearing of the young monarch’s plans, Gerry rounds up an army of ferocious jungle beasts to do battle with Ashley. But with the help of his loyal monkey compatriots, Ashley crushes the tyrant in their final engagement to become leader of the new monkey confederation.
